MI’s Parallel Presentation

Doc Tours: Singapore as Medical Tourism Hub

Captalising on Singapore’s location in the heart of South East Asia and riding upon its well established reputation for cutting-edge medical practices, well-trained specialists and comprehensive facilities, the local medical industry is working hard to woo potential patients from overseas and turn the country into a major medical hub in Asia. From Indonesia, Vietnam, China and even Saudi Arabia, well-to-do patients have been coming to Singapore for checkups and surgeries, and sometimes even bringing their families along. If the trend continues, the term ‘Doctours’ may longer be a pun (upon the word ‘doctors’ and the popular tourist joyride Ducktours), but an economically viable reality.

Some questions that can help to prepare you for the interview

1) What do you understand by the term ‘medical hub’?

2) What are some of the steps undertaken to promote Singapore as a medical hub?

3) Who do you think are suitable to talk on this issue?

4) If you are an official working in the team to set up the medical hub, what suggestions do you have?

5) Why should we select you to represent MI for the Pre-U Sem? What can you contribute?
