可与言而不与言,失人。
不可于言而与之言,失言。
知者不失人,亦不失言。
--- 《论语:卫灵公篇》
看百家讲坛之于丹《论语》心得
Was watching Prof Yu Dan's speech on You Tube, realised that one of my mottoes "Live life with no regrets" is unattainable. I hope to do things right the first time but in life, that is impossible. Life will always have disappointments. In other words, shit happens. (forgive me for putting it crudely)
When shit happens, what should I do?
Grumble, complain, whine, seek revenge so that justice will be served?
If it was the old me, it will be "an eye for an eye" but I am not who I am ten years ago.
Like what Prof Yu suggested and Confucianism preached, maintain an open heart and open mind. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. [Matthew 7:120]
Forgiveness is an undervalued virtue which I hope to seek and cultivate.
What I can do is to bravely acknowledge my mistake and try my best to amend.
"Live life with least regrets. Let go and look forward."
